Sainsbury’s updates supply chain technology
Sainsbury’s has signed a five year deal with IBM to help improve its supply chain and improve stock availability.
IBM will provide a new Wesupply platform to enable the retailer to communicate more effectively with around 4000 suppliers. The result will let Sainsbury’s manage the status of orders and availability of products across its entire network, showing real-time supply chain data to improve stock control.
“To support our continued growth, we were looking to enhance our collaboration with suppliers without a significant increase in cost, while continuing to introduce greater intelligence into our supply chain,” says Sainsbury’s director of supply chain operations Tim Goalen.
