Asda says goodbye to Bogofs
Asda claimed today that by Easter 12,500 prices across the store will be lower than they were at the start of the year.
The supermarket says it has already slashed 7,500 prices since 1 January 2009, and this weekend will see the start of a further 5,000 price cuts on everyday essentials.
Asda has also promised more transparency on promotions, under the banner “bye-bye to Bogofs”.
Darren Blackhurst, Asda’s chief merchandising officer said: “With the country in recession, we need to do all we can to lower the cost of the weekly shop and do the right thing by our customers. That’s what our price pledge is all about, good honest value our customers can trust week in, week out.
Chief executive Andy Bond said: “The world has changed and businesses need to move quickly to make sure they’re giving customers what they need. Those that have drifted apart from their customers and failed to respond quickly to their changing needs have gone under, it’s that simple.”
Asda is also launching its own Saving You Money TV channel on YouTube, which allows customers to share money-saving tips and offer each other advice on how to cut their energy bills or reduce food waste.
